quiet blog

I haven’t posted here much lately, mainly because in July I was diagnosed with de quervain’s tenosynovitis, otherwise known as game keeper’s thumb, washer woman’s sprain and various other names. It is an extremely painful condition, caused in my case by eight weeks spent working on a laptop at a desk shared between several people on a project in the UK. The pain radiates up your arms for hours after you leave work, a sort of slow burn, and everything associated with my being in England was aggrivating it, from the cramped desk space that violated too many health and safety laws to get into to wandering around pulling a wheelie suitcase every monday and friday on and off aeroplanes, trains, in and out of taxis etc.
Back in Ireland, I attented the doctor who referred me to a specialist, specialists are gloriously expensive, 180 euro for the first visit, 150 euro per visit thereafter. Thankfully he cured me, my writsts still aren’t perfect and they never will be considering I spend my days sitting at a computer tap tap tapping, but they are better than they were. I stay away from computers whilst out of work and will contine to do so for the foreseeable future. At night time I sleep with wrist splints to stop bending my wrists in and further aggrivating the condition. I apply a steroid gel when it’s flaring up.
I think I may not post again until January, a new adventure beckons next year, I will prob have more interesting things to post about then. Toodles til then.
