SK and I ordered a phone line last January.
Our neighbours ordered one last December.
None of us are going to have a phone line until July.
The Minister for Communications tells me there is nothing he can do (I wrote to him, he wrote back), because Eircom is a private company (like, duh, I knew that), and I should talk to Comreg.
Except we already have spoken to Comreg. They don’t have the power to fine Eircom for their seven month delays.
Why exactly do we have a Minister for Communications? What is the point of that portfolio? He can’t do anything about our fixed line telecom operators appaling delays.
The phone line fiasco is the reason I haven’t been posting.
I don’t do posting at work.
NTL aren’t much help.
They are providing us with free, working cable, but are not sure when we will be added to their system and until then, we can have free cable, but we can’t order broadband.
(Despite daily phonecalls to them for a month).
When we get the magic letter, we can order.
Otherwise they will cut our subscription.
Obviously they are competent.
I’m posting at home in my parents house.
My parents ordered a phone line back in the 1960s.
It took a couple of months to be installed, but not seven months.
Good to know the situation has deteriorated since the 1960s.
